As children, we would eagerly follow the honey hunters into the mountains, excited and nervous at the same time. Honey hunting is an ancient practice in our community, passed down through generations. It’s a daring and dangerous tradition, where skilled hunters climb perilous cliffs to harvest the wild honey from the hives of giant Himalayan bees. We were in awe of the honey hunters’ bravery, yet every time we ventured near those towering cliffs, we felt that thrill of fear—especially when the bees swarmed around us. There was always shared laughter when someone screamed in panic, scared of a sting, or when one of us had second thoughts about tasting the honeycomb, worried it might be too strong.

For us, mad honey is more than just honey; it’s a symbol of our heritage, our culture, and our connection to nature. We remember those early days vividly—being fascinated by the entire process, from the preparation of the honey hunt to the actual harvest. There were times when we were terrified of getting too close, trying to avoid the bees and the strong, heady scent of the honeycombs. We had a strange fear of tasting the honeycomb at first, knowing its potency and the tales of its effects. But over time, we learned to appreciate its uniqueness and the courage it took to bring this special honey to the surface.

By 2015, we decided it was time to share this experience with others. We began by selling mad honey locally, starting with people in our community who already understood the value of this rare honey. The response was overwhelming.
