Are you ready for an unforgettable journey deep into the heart of the majestic Himalayas?

Embark on an extraordinary madventure with a once-in-a-lifetime honey-hunting expedition in the Lamjung region of Nepal, where ancient customs and breathtaking landscapes converge to offer an unparalleled experience.

Explore Lamjung and its captivating Mad Honey Hunting Tradition; For generations, the Gurung community has called the Lamjung region home, preserving and practicing the tradition of mad honey hunting. These wild bees are revered by their ancestors, and Lamjung is renowned for its rich culture, warm hospitality, mesmerizing natural beauty, and abundant flora, including rhododendrons and azaleas that yield mad honey containing grayanotoxins.

The process of wild honey hunting begins with locating the bees' nests, often guided by the buzzing sound of the bees. Once found, a team of hunters ascends the cliffs using traditional bamboo ladders, ropes, and hooks to reach the hives. Traditional smoking techniques are employed to calm the bees before extracting the honeycombs.

Honey hunting not only serves as a livelihood for many in Nepal's mountainous regions but also holds deep cultural and traditional significance. Honey is believed to possess medicinal properties and plays a vital role in various religious ceremonies.
